Bernd & Hilla — wheel-thrown stoneware ceramic series by Bucky (Peggy Geens), Brussels 2023, detail of geometric forms
Collection I · 2023

Bernd & Hilla

A series focused on subtle variations of shape and texture that arise from handcrafting — exploring the interplay between uniformity and individuality. Geometric forms emerge from the clay: cylinders, cones, spheres — echoing industrial typologies in quiet repetition.

Named after Bernd and Hilla Becher, the German photographers known for their rigorous documentation of industrial structures. Each piece is unique within a coherent visual language.

Bernd & Hilla Revisited — mold-cast stoneware sculptural series by Bucky Ceramics Brussels, 2024 contemporary Belgian ceramics
Collection II · 2024

Bernd & Hilla Revisited

Where the original series was shaped by the spontaneous dialogue of hand and wheel, this revisitation introduces the discipline of mold casting — giving the geometric language a new clarity while preserving its essential restraint.

Together, the two series form a complete dialogue between control and improvisation.

Charles & Ray — stoneware sculptural vessel by Bucky Ceramics, two halves joined into one form, Brussels Belgium 2021, limited edition for collectors
Collection III · 2021

Charles & Ray

Two differently shaped halves meet in a single vessel — a visual story about harmony arising from contrasting elements. Inspired by Plato's Symposium and the lifelong partnership of Charles & Ray Eames, whose collaboration embodied that same union of contrasting sensibilities.

Each vessel is a dialogue made permanent in clay. A limited run; only a handful remain.

Marcel — breezeblock stoneware sculptural installation inspired by Marcel Breuer's architecture, by Bucky Ceramics Brussels
Collection IV · 2022

Marcel

Experiments with light and shadow, using strategic openings to create structural clarity and geometric precision. Variable breezeblocks are created by combining four half-moulds — no two configurations identical.

The shape is inspired by a facade by architect Marcel Breuer — a figure who believed that functional form could carry poetic weight. In this work, the building block becomes the artwork: an architectural installation at domestic scale.

Sou

A series of practical forms stacked into a monolithic structure evoking a totem. Inspired by pale, spectral women from ancient myth — banshees, carriers of sorrow and strength. Monuments to those who silently hold the world together.

Glazed textures lend a unity of restrained elegance; each functional element — stool, side table or planter — together forms a towering installation for any interior.

04 — The Artist

Bucky — Peggy Geens.

Bucky, artistic name of Peggy Geens, Brussels-based Belgian ceramic artist, portrait in studio

Bucky is the artistic name of Peggy Geens, a ceramic artist based in Brussels. Born in Germany, she moved to Belgium and studied architecture at LUCA School of Arts, followed by ceramics at the Academy of Visual Arts Anderlecht.

Drawing from her architectural training, she blends design thinking with the tactile language of clay — creating small series of handcrafted works that sit at the intersection of design and art. Her practice is characterised by geometric restraint, typological rigour, and an interest in how a single form can hold both function and myth.

Her work has been exhibited at MAD Brussels (Design Parcours 2024), Flanders DC (For the Now 2024), and Imaginair SHOW S1/1 Brussels. She works with private collectors, interior designers, architects and gallerists across Belgium and internationally.

"In my ceramic endeavours, I draw from my architectural background, blending design expertise with the tactile and artistic aspects of working with clay." — Bucky (Peggy Geens)

09 — Questions

Before you collect.

For pieces marked "Buy now," you can purchase directly via the shop checkout using credit card or bank transfer — we confirm within an hour and ship within 5 working days. For commission works (Sou, Marcel) and limited pieces, use the Enquire form and Peggy replies personally within 48 hours — usually much faster. Payment is then by invoice, with 2–3 instalments available for works above €1,500.
Yes. Small-to-medium pieces (Bernd & Hilla, Charles & Ray under 40cm) ship in bespoke wooden crates via DHL with full art insurance and typically arrive within 5–10 working days worldwide. Large installations (Sou, Marcel) ship via specialist fine-art freight — we arrange a full quote per destination. Tell us your postcode and we come back with a figure within a day.
Yes. Commissions are welcome from private collectors, interior designers and institutional clients. Typical lead time is 8–16 weeks depending on scale and technique. We begin with a conversation about space, dimensions, glaze direction and budget, then share sketches before committing. A 30% deposit confirms the project; balance on completion, before shipping.
The work itself, in bespoke art packaging; a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity; a care and cleaning guide; and — for larger pieces — installation advice. A short handwritten note from the studio is part of every shipment.
Stoneware is remarkably durable — fired at 1,200–1,300°C, it's vitrified and resists water and temperature well. For functional pieces, hand-washing is recommended (dishwasher is fine for tableware but softens glazes over time). For sculptural work, dust with a soft cloth. Glazes develop character with age — that's a feature, not a flaw.
Yes — see our trade programme above. Trade partners access reduced pricing scaled to project volume, full PDF tear sheets, priority on new drops, and direct studio contact for commissions. Apply via the trade form and we respond within three working days.
Stoneware is a dense, warm-toned clay body fired at 1,200–1,300°C — it has an earthy, tactile quality that suits sculptural and functional forms alike. Porcelain, fired at similar temperatures, is refined and whiter, prized for its ability to transmit light. Bucky uses stoneware for most collections; porcelain is reserved for the Isamu lamp series.
Yes — studio visits are warmly welcomed by appointment in Brussels. It's a chance to see pieces in person, hold them, and discuss commissions. Book via the contact form; visits are usually on Fridays and Saturdays.
